Building Resilience & Food Security for Smallholder Farmers

We bring next-gen weather technologies to food system stakeholders & smallholder farmers.

Our programs are focused on enabling access to next-generation weather innovations by farmers so that they can increase their productivity and incomes by optimizing on-farm resources.

Closing the Weather Data Gap

Our First Mile program seeks out breakthrough weather technologies from around the world and localizes them for Africa.

We focus on technologies that can deliver step changes in quality, uptake, and affordability.

To accelerate technology innovation and adoption, we have built a globally accessible R&D testbed that leverages:

  • Multiple weather technologies, including space radars, seasonal forecasts, long-duration balloons, and new ground stations
  • Key agriculture advisory products, including seed variety, planting window, pest & disease risk, and yield modeling
  • Best-in-class technology and research partners, including Tomorrow.io, Salient Predictions, Windborne Systems, CABI, CGIAR, and KALRO
Recent Achievements:
  • Created Africa’s first hyper-local (4km) 10+ year climate reanalysis dataset
  • Built a Gold Standard Validation Network to calibrate and validate new space observations and AI-powered forecast models
  • Delivered 40% efficiency gain in crop variety analysis over traditional climate data tools

Closing the Weather Access Gap

Our Last Mile program brings precision agromet advisory to millions of smallholder farmers. We are building new partnership models and shared digital infrastructure that is enabling rapid scale and impact 100M farmers by 2030.

To help farmers benefit as much as possible from breakthrough weather technologies, our digital climate advisory services combine:

  • Precision advisory based on farmer geolocations, crop growth models, and 4km high-resolution weather forecasts
  • Capacity building and implementation support for National Agricultural Research Systems and other farmer-facing organizations
  • Streamlined data and legal frameworks to engage key stakeholders, including Met Offices

Recent Achievements

  • Scaled digital advisory program with KALRO to 5M Kenyan farmers in <2 years
  • 20% increase in farmers reporting the season was much better due to our precision advisory vs. standard advisory
  • Demand from 10+ countries to replicate our success in Kenya
