TomorrowNow.org connected with partners & innovators at #WorldMetTechExpo2024 to explore next-generation tech that can empower small-scale farming across Africa...

Vienna, Austria – TomorrowNow.org was honored to be represented at the Meteorological Technology World Expo #WorldMetTechExpo2024 in Vienna (24-26 Sept) with the goal exploring next-generation tech that can empower small-scale farming across Africa, helping communities adapt to climate challenges with better forecasting and data-driven solutions.

Insights from #WorldMetTechExpo2024

Our Director of Climate Resilience, Philip Frost, attended a pivotal workshop focused on the Global Basic Observation Network (GBON) and the Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF).

This session emphasized the World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) commitment to addressing significant gaps in basic weather and climate data, particularly in regions that are least equipped to handle weather variability and climate change.

High-quality weather data is essential for informing policymakers and planners, allowing them to design effective climate resilience strategies. These strategies are crucial for various critical applications, including food security and scientific research.

Accurate weather information empowers communities to make informed decisions, enhancing their ability to thrive in the face of environmental challenges.

TomorrowNow’s Commitment to Promoting Last Mile Access to Weathertech

At TomorrowNow, we are dedicated to unlocking and sustaining the transformative potential of next-generation weather intelligence for the communities most affected by climate change. We recognize that while innovative weather technologies powered by AI and satellites are emerging rapidly, they won’t reach those in need until systemic gaps are addressed.

We believe it is vital to act urgently to bridge these gaps, ensuring that vulnerable communities gain access to the tools and information necessary for resilience and adaptation.

Our mission is to catalyze this change, fostering a future where every community can thrive, regardless of the climatic challenges they face.

As we move forward, we remain committed to leading R&D efforts and access at scale towards supporting farmer-facing organizations and research institutions to generate decision support tools to empower small-scale farmers and last mile communities across Africa.

Together, we can harness the power of weather technology to create a more resilient and sustainable future.

Stay tuned for more updates on our initiatives and insights from the forefront of climate resilience!
